Dr Mairi Hope joined ROC Clinic – Aberdeen in October 2017. She practices as a General Practitioner and as such undertakes routine and emergency consultations and preventative health checks for adults and children of all ages.
Dr Mairi Hope has a solid medical background having dedicated her early career to science and research. She holds a first-class Honors Degree from Glasgow University in Microbiology and subsequently undertook a PhD from Aberdeen University in the role of gut microbes in the development of sporadic colorectal cancer. Dr Hope then trained in Medicine at Aberdeen Medical University from which she graduated with Honors in 2010.
She has published several papers on gut microbes and colorectal cancer, gut microbes and inflammatory bowel disease and issues experienced by women around menopause.
Dr Mairi Hope grew up in Ross-shire and her career as a GP has taken her to most areas of Scotland. As a result, she is familiar with the challenges faced by patients in North East Scotland, whether specific health issues or difficulties in sourcing adequate or desired health care.
Dr Mairi Hope appreciates a holistic approach to patient care and her interests lie in health prevention and management of the ageing individual. Her exceptional background and extensive training in microbiology, give her top skills when managing infections, being acute, chronic, common or rare. Her approach is thorough and determined with the only scope of improving the physical and emotional well-being of her patients.
