Professional Profile and Experience
Dr Alexandra Davidson graduated from University College London Medical School in 2005 and completed postgraduate training posts at a central London teaching hospital. She stepped out from clinical training in 2007 for a year to focus on gaining academic and research skills, working as an Academic Clinical Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology at Imperial Hammersmith hospitals foundation trust. She then pursued an academic training in Primary Care at University College London where her research focused on dementia and postgraduate medical education. She became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2012 and has a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists which she completed in 2013.
Dr Alexandra Davidson has been an academic tutor in General Practice at three UK medical schools and most recently held a substantive University post in Medical Education at Cambridge University where she was Assistant Director in General Practice and educational lead for the second clinical year.
Her interest in gut health and nutrition stems from her own experience as a patient, where she transformed her health and stopped all prescription medication using simple principles and high quality supplements. This led to her choosing to follow her passion and specialise in Functional Medicine, and she has now completed almost all her training modules through the prestigious Institute of Functional Medicine in the United States.
She continues to work as a NHS GP two days a week.
